The Inheritance of "Artisan Spirit"




June 5th, 2017 activity “See China • Foreign Youth Photography Program (Gansu line)” start at Northwest Normal University, nine United States and Canada students will photograph documentary films for 17 days in Gansu under the guidance of "one to one" Chinese college students and foreign teachers.




The theme of photography involves Lanzhou Yellow River waterwheel, golden enamel painting, clay figurine, hand rip book, etc., reflecting the "artisan spirit" of Gansu regional style and local feelings, they finally complete nine record short films, and participate in exhibition &spread.


"See China · Foreign Youth Photography Program" is a cultural exchange project, which is initiated and organized by Institute of international communications of Chinese culture in Beijing Normal University. Since launching in 2011, it has held six sessions with 302 young people coming from 34 countries to 21 cities in China; they have completed 301 short films, won more than 50 international awards. Each session is different theme, this time is "artisans • inheritance and innovation".


















Same with other cultural elements, "artisan spirit" is also no borders. such as "See China · Foreign Youth Photography Program" activity, it not only make world to see connotation of Chinese culture, but also let us more understanding of our five thousand years cultural heritage through different short films. Each lens records a story, it form a cultural heritage via all the lens combination.



"Artisan spirit" seems to be far away from the modern life. from broadcast of 2016 documentary film "I repair cultural relic in the Imperial Palace", we can know the life story of repair process and repairman of rare cultural relics for Imperial Palace painting, bronze, palace watches, wood, ceramics, lacquerware, palace embroidery and other areas. 2017 "See China • Foreign Youth Photography Program (Gansu line)" activity let us much closer and in-depth “artisans spirit” as the real participants, and then experience the true meaning "Artisans• Inheritance • Innovation".


With the putting forward of "Made in China 2025", more and more industries pay more attention to the "artisan spirit". Chairman Xi Jinping constantly stressed that "one belt& one road", it is also a cultural heritage, and develop& expand artisan spirit. At the same time, Germany's "Industrial 4.0" is also focusing on the industry and "artisan spirit".
