Adsorption Regeneration Dryer

Adsorption dryer generally uses silica gel, activated alumina, molecular sieve as a desiccant. Silica gel: more susceptible to moisture deliquescence, it’s usually used for -20 ℃ pressure dew point; activated alumina: strong adsorption performance, stable, encounter moisture is not deliquescence, and high anti-crushing strength and abrasion resistance, wide range of applications, it usually use -40 ℃ pressure dew point; molecular sieve: it's often used for deep dry desiccant, usually use -70 ℃ pressure dew point because the relative humidity is 20% or less have good drying performance.

The adsorption effect of adsorption regenerative dryer is "physical adsorption", and the factor that affects "physical adsorption" capability is "van der Waals force". so it’s main factors affect the adsorption capacity of moisture in the compressed air.
1.Compressed air intake pressure. The intake pressure is high, the water content pressure is also high, the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent increases under the isothermal temperature ;

2.Intake air temperature. low inlet temperature makes adsorption capacity of the adsorbent increasing under constant pressure;

3.Compressed air flow. large flow makes contact time of water vapor and adsorbent in the compressed air can’t meet the design requirements, then decrease  adsorption capacity;

4.The adsorbent is contaminated. Adsorbents will be attacked or poisoned during adsorbing oil, liquid water, and solid particles, making adsorption capacity is greatly reduced.

We know that adsorption process is a dynamic process, adsorption can achieve a dynamic equilibrium, this dynamic adsorption equilibrium is established under a certain temperature and pressure conditions if the compressed air and adsorbent have a long contact time. The system's original equilibrium relation will be broken and establish a new balance, which is called regeneration process when the temperature and pressure change.

At a certain temperature, the adsorption amount of the water (adsorbate) on adsorbent will increase with water vapor partial pressure in the gas phase increasing.  The adsorption capacity of the water will decrease with temperature increasing under certain water vapor partial pressure. This shows that water content is easy to be adsorbed under the low temperature or high pressure, and it’s easy to be desorbed in high temperature or low pressure. Adsorption regeneration dryer uses this nature of the adsorbent to achieve "adsorption - regeneration - adsorption - regeneration ... ..." , and then achieve continuous drying compressed air, biteman modular-units dryer is the representative of adsorption regeneration dryer!
